We’ve just announced a new game in our portfolio: A Short Quest, a modern take on the first-person RPG! Made by the 2-man indie studio A Silent Moon, a new playtest is now live that you can join on Steam.

If you grew up playing classic RPGs like King’s Field, Gothic, and early Elder Scrolls titles, then this game is for you. In this hand-crafted world creativity is rewarded through challenging combat, immersive environments and secrets to solve. What starts as a simple quest to bring a note of great importance to the king becomes a fight to survive and unravel the mysteries of a crumbling kingdom.
After a small combat playtest this past spring, the King’s Wood playtest is a fully-featured yet early glimpse at A Short Quest, providing a deeper taste of the game’s world and systems. Playtesters can now take the first steps on their quest, cleanse the King’s Wood of bandits, loot weapons, master magic spells, cook different recipes, and more. Interested adventurers can join the playtest on Steam and provide feedback in the Discord server.
Features of A Short Quest include:
- Combat That Rewards Creativity: Combine melee and spellcasting abilities in responsive, King’s Field-like combat that rewards positioning and decision making over reflexes and combos.
- A Nostalgic but Modern Experience: Heavily inspired by old-school RPGs and adventure games, but elevated for the times with a modern look, responsive controls, full voice acting, and a living world.
- RPG Depth Without the Grind: Titled literally, A Short Quest provides depth while respecting players’ time. Grow your character by collecting loot, leveling up skills, and honing specializations, without having to grind.
